Rodolpho had built an extensive career in marketing at a leading global energy management company where he helped lead a digital transformation initiative. After nine years, he felt like it was time for a new challenge. Rodolpho wanted to join a high growth tech company where he could leverage his experience and expertise to make a big impact.
Rodolpho joined our program and landed his dream job within 2 months — a strategic role heading regional marketing at the fastest growing IT company in the country. I asked him to share his success story, key learnings and advice.
Q&A with Rodolpho
Q: Why did you decide to invest in the program?
A: The most challenging part for me was figuring out where I wanted to go and creating a strategy to get there. It was overwhelming to think about the entire process. I was able to get a few interviews and offers, but they weren’t ones I was interested in. So I decided to join the program because I really wanted to make the best move and do it as effectively and quickly as possible.
Q: What was it like working with us?
A: It was fantastic! I felt supported throughout the entire process. The coaching went beyond the job search and helped me learn and grow personally as well.
Q: What did you find most valuable?
A: The structure made it straightforward and easy to follow. I gained valuable knowledge and techniques that helped accelerate my job search. The content was great and helped keep me focused and motivated.
Q: How did you feel throughout the process?
A: Even when there were some low points, I felt optimistic about the future. I felt empowered about my career again. I was confident I would make a strategic move that would align my career trajectory to my vision.
Q: How did you land your new job?
A: Once I identified a target company, I networked with former colleagues who knew people there and got introductions. I was able to learn more about the marketing organization and hiring process. I finally got introduced to a recruiter and was able to talk to her about an open position, which led to an interview and an offer.
I definitely networked in the past, but was way more strategic about it this time. By working with my coach, I not only learned better ways to network, but also on how to navigate informationals. I also honed my interviewing skills through a lot of practice. These were all integral pieces to getting a great offer.
Q: What surprised you by the results?
A: My biggest surprise was that the job I landed was EXACTLY the one I mapped out, including the industry, the stage of the company and positive culture — everything I had visualized. In fact, it was exactly what I had been searching for, for years.
Q: What advice do you have for other job seekers?
A: Trust the process, trust in yourself and don’t settle for less.
Q: What are you loving about your role?
A: Today I work for one of the fastest growing software startups in history. I love that I’m contributing to shaping and building this company. My role is exciting and always evolving. Every day I’m challenged, I learn something new and I grow. I work with smart colleagues who I respect and am proud of the work we do.
